Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of Rephrase, a tool that rewrites what you mean and explains what someone else's words likely mean. By using the service, you agree to them.
1. The service
Rephrase generates alternative phrasings and interpretations using third-party language models. The service is provided as-is. It may change, be suspended, or be discontinued at any time. We do not guarantee that it will always be available or error-free.
2. No account required
You can use the core service free without creating an account. Daily usage limits apply and are enforced using a random device identifier stored in your browser. If you choose Google sign-in, you authorize us to receive your basic Google profile (account ID, email, name and profile picture) to operate your account and keep usage consistent across devices. You are responsible for activity under your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Rephrase to harass, threaten, defame, impersonate, or discriminate against anyone;
- generate content that is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, or intended to cause serious harm;
- submit another person's private information without permission;
- attempt to bypass usage limits, scrape the service, probe its security, or interfere with its operation;
- use automated scripts or resell the service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe these rules are being violated.
4. AI output is not advice
Output is generated by AI for wording reference only. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased or inappropriate. It is not legal, medical, financial, psychological or professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing anything you send and for the consequences of sending it.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the text you submit. You grant us a limited license to process that text solely to provide the service — sending it to our model provider and returning the result. We do not store your submitted text in our database and do not use it to train our own models. We do not claim ownership of the generated output; you may use it as you wish, subject to these terms and applicable law.
6. Usage limits and fair use
Free usage is subject to daily limits, per-IP rate limits, concurrency limits and a global service budget. Limits exist to keep the service available for everyone. We may adjust them or apply additional safeguards to prevent abuse. Attempting to evade limits is a violation of these terms.
7. Intellectual property
The service, including its interface, prompts, persona system, branding and code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable law. These terms do not grant you any right to copy, modify, distribute or reverse-engineer the service except as permitted by law.
8. Availability and changes
We may modify features, limits, model providers or these terms. If we make material changes to the terms, we will update this page and the effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that output will be appropriate for your situation or that the service will be uninterrupted or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and may delete your account from the account menu or the account deletion page. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or if we need to protect the service, its users or third parties.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights you may have under local law.
